Abstract:Objective:To discuss the clinical effect of combined treatment with thunder-fire moxibustion and acupuncture on acute peripheral facial paralysis.Method:A total of 120 patients with acute peripheral facial paralysis treated in Hui'an County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2019 to December 2023 were selected.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and acupuncture group,60 cases in each group. The control group underwent thunder-fire moxibustion, and the acupuncture group underwent acupuncture on the basis of the control group. The curative effect, facial nerve function indexes(static symmetry and voluntary movement symmetry),quality of life scores before and after treatment, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Result:The total effective rate of acupuncture group was 95.00%,which was higher than 81.67%that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no significant difference in facial nerve function scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the facial nerve function score of both groups was significantly improved compared with those before treatment, and the static symmetry score of acupuncture group was lower than that of control group, and the voluntary motor symmetry score was higher than that of control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no significant difference in quality of life scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the quality of life score of both groups was improved compared with before treatment, and the acupuncture group was better than the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in acupuncture group and control group was 8.33%and 3.33%,respectively,the incidence of adverse reactions in acupuncture group was slightly higher than that in control group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:The combined treatment with thunder-fire moxibustion and acupuncture is beneficial to improve overall curative effect, facial nerve function and quality of life in patients with acute peripheral facial paralysis.
