Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of Huanglian Wendan Decoction on blood glucose level and sleep quality in type 2 diabetes(T2DM)patients with insomnia.Method:A total of 98 T2DM patients with insomnia treated in Chengxiang District Hospital of Putian City from January 2020 to January 2023 were selected as the study objects and divided into control group and observation group by radom number table, with 49 cases in each group. Both groups were given routine hypoglycemic regimen. The control group was given Esazolam orally, while the observation group was given Huanglian Wendan Decoction plus or less on the basis of control group. The clinical efficacy, blood glucose level, neurotransmitter level and sleep quality of the two groups were compared.Result:The total effective rate of the observation group higher than that of control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of Fasting Plasma Glucose(FPG)and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2-hour PG)decreased in both groups, and the observation group had lower levels of FPG and 2-hour PG(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of BDNF and 5-HT increased in both groups, while the levels of Norepinephrine(NE)decreased. The observation group showed better improvement in Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor(BDNF),5-Hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),and NE(P<0.05).Both groups showed a decrease in Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)scores after treatment, with the observation group having a lower PSQI score(P<0.05).Conclusion:Huanglian Wendan Decoction can reduce blood sugar, regulate neurotransmitter levels, improve sleep quality, and enhance treatment efficacy in patients with T2DM and insomnia.
