Abstract:Objective:To analyze the effect of Thalidomide on prevention of associated pneumonia caused by radiotherapy combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICI)for thoracic tumors.Method:A total of 80 patients with thoracic tumors who admitted to Pingyin People's Hospital from June 2022 to June 2023 were selected as subjects, they were divided into the observation group and the control group by random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. Two groups were treated with radiotherapy combined with ICI,the control group was treated with placebo, and the observation group was treated with Thalidomide. The associated pneumonia, inflammatory factors, pulmonary fibrosis indexes, quality of life and treatment safety were compared between two groups.Result:The incidence of associated pneumonia in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β),interleukin-6(IL-6),hyaluronidase(HA),laminin(LN)and type Ⅲ procollagen peptide(PC-Ⅲ)in the observation group after treatment were lower than those in the control group, and the scores of European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer quality of life questionnaire-C30(EORTC QLQ-C30)were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:The effect of Thalidomide on prevention of associated pneumonia caused by radiotherapy combined with ICI for thoracic tumors is effective, which can reduce the level of inflammatory factors and the degree of pulmonary fibrosis, improve the quality of life, and has good treatment safety.
