Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Insulin Pump Intensification in Elderly Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract：Objective:To explore the efficacy and safety of intensive insulin pump therapy in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.Method:140 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes treated in Fuzhou Second General Hospital from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the study objects.and randomly divided into control group and observation group,with 70 cases in each group.The patients of observation group were treated with insulin pump,and the patients of control group were treated with routine insulin subcutaneous injection.The changes of blood glucose level,blood glucose variability,blood glucose standard days and incidence of hypoglycemia were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Result:After treatment,there were no significant differences in fasting blood glucose(FPG),2 h postprandial-blood glucose(2 hPBG)and glycated albumin percentage(GA%)between the two groups(P＞0.05).The index is lower than the control group after treatment,observation group,the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).After treatment,the average blood glucose,maximum blood glucose amplitude,average blood glucose fluctuation amplitude,blood glucose variation coefficient and fasting blood glucose variation coefficient in observation group were lower than those in control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).After treatment,the blood glucose standard days in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Incidence of hypoglycemia compared two groups,there was no statistically significant difference(P＞0.05).Conclusion:Intensive insulin pump therapy in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes can improve the therapeutic effect,reduce the variability of blood sugar,accelerate blood sugar standards,and have high safety.
