Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of neck back extension training on rehabilitation outcomes of congenital muscular torticollis.Method:A total of 76 children with congenital muscular torticollis who admitted to Xiamen Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the research objects, the children were divided into the control group and the study group by random number table method, with 38 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine rehabilitation therapy, and the study group was treated with neck back extension training on the basis of routine rehabilitation therapy. The clinical efficacy, physical examination indexes(neck lateral flexion angle to the healthy side, neck rotation angle to the affected side, head deflection angle, bilateral sternocleidomastoid muscle thickness ratio)and neck muscle function[neck muscle function scale(NMFS)score]were compared between two groups.Result:The total clinical effective rate of the study group was 94.74%,which was higher than 65.79%of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);at 3 months and 6 months of intervention, the neck lateral flexion angle to the healthy side, neck rotation angle to the affected side and the neck MFS scores of two groups were increased, the head deflection angle and bilateral sternocleidomastoid muscle thickness ratio were decreased, and the improvements of the study group were more significant than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of neck back extension training on the basis of routine rehabilitation therapy in children with congenital muscular torticollis has a significant clinical effect, which can effectively improve physical examination indexes and neck muscle function.
