Abstract:Objective:To explore the preventive effect of improved prone position ventilation intervention combined with massage on ventilator-associated pneumonia in low birth weight infants. Method:A total of 80 low birth weight infants receiving mechanical ventilation admitted to Quanzhou Women's and Children's Hospital from January 2021 to June 2023 were selected as the study objects and divided into control group and observation group according to double-blind method, with 40 cases in each group. The children in both groups received routine mechanical ventilation care and massage. The control group was given prone ventilation, and the observation group was given improved prone position ventilation. The respiratory rate (RI),the partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) and the mean arterial pressure (MAP),incidence and complications of ventilator-associated pneumonia, length of hospital stay duration of mechanical ventilation and family satisfaction of low birth weight infants were compared between the two groups. Result:After the intervention,RI,PaCO2 and MAP of the observation group were lower than those of control group (P<0.05),hospitalization time and mechanical ventilation time in the observation group were shorter than those of control group (P<0.05). The incidence of complications and ventilator-associated pneumonia in the observation group were lower than those of control group (P<0.05). The family satisfaction of observation group was higher than that of control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:The modified prone position ventilation intervention combined with massage can prevent the occurrence of ventilator-associated pneumonia in low birth weight infants, reduce the occurrence of related complications, improve the blood gas index and vital signs of children, and help to shorten the hospitalization time of children.
