Abstract:Objective:To study the short-term and medium-term efficacy of unilateral biportal endoscopic technique (UBE) in patients with lumbar disc herniation. Method:A total of 70 patients with lumbar disc herniation were selected as the study objects from January 2020 to January 2022 at the Fujian Armed Police Corps Hospital. The patients were grouped according to the operation plan (32 patients underwent UBE-assisted extraction of nucleus pulposus and were regarded as the observation group. 38 patients underwent open nucleus pulposus extraction and were regarded as the control group). The operative indicators, pain, functional scores and follow-up results were monitored in both groups. Result:Compared with the control group, the observation group had a longer duration of surgery, shorter duration of neuroedema and postoperative hospitalization, lower intraoperative bleeding and postoperative drainage, and a lower incidence of postoperative complications, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The observation group had lower back and leg pain scores 1 d,30 d,and 6 months postoperatively after surgery, and lower functional scores 30 d,3 months, and 6 months postoperatively after surgery, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion:The mid-term (12 months) effect of UBE assisted lumbar discectomy for lumbar disc herniation is similar to that of open lumbar discectomy, but the short-term pain improvement effect and functional recovery effectare better, and the intraoperative bleeding is less, the hospital stay is shorter, and the postoperative safety is higher.
