Abstract:Objective:To investigate the diagnostic value of mean corpuscular hemoglobin(MCH)combined with hemoglobin A2(HbA2)in β thalassemia(thalassemia).Method:Sixty-eight patients with βthalassemia treated in Zhaoqing Second People's Hospital from January 2011 to January 2023 were selected as the βthalassemia group, and 50 healthy physical examination volunteers were selected as the control group at the same period. The levels of MCH and HbA2 in the two groups were detected. The levels of MCH and HbA2 were compared between the two groups. The levels of MCH and HbA2 in patients with different severity of βthalassemia were compared.Receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC curve)was drawn to analyze the diagnostic value of MCH combined with HbA2 in β thalidomia.Result:MCH in βthalassemia group was higher than that in control group, and HbA2 in βthalassemia group was lower than that in control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).MCH in severe patients was lower than that in intermediate and mild patients, and HbA2 was higher than that in intermediate and mild patients,MCH in intermediate patients was lower than that in mild patients, and HbA2 was higher than that in mild patients, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Combined detection has the largest area under the curve and the highest diagnostic value. Conclusion:MCH and HbA2 have certain diagnostic value in β thalidomia, and the combined detection has higher diagnostic efficiency, which can be used as a sensitive index for early screening of β thalidomia.
