Analysis on Elderly Patients with hematochezia

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the etiologic constitution of elderly patients with hematochezia.Method:A retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 95 elderly patients with hematochezia was conducted.Result:The most common reason was peptic ulcer(41.1%),followed by cancer(22.1%),IC(11.6%).51.6% cases took medicine such as NSAIDS,Antiplatelet agents,Warfarin.All of the IC cases were associated with the basal diseases such as hypertension,diabetes,cardio-cerebrovascular disorders,etc.Conclusion:The common etiologies of elderly patients with hematochezia are peptic ulcer,cancer,IC,it''s suggested to be routine for elderly patients with hematochezia to do gastroscopy or colonoscopy.It''s necessary for elderly patients to evaluate the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding before antiplatelet therapy.
