Application of Orem Self-care Model to Large Area Burn Patients
Abstract：Objective:To investigate the effect of Orem self-care model on the care of large area burn patients.Method:From January 2010 to November 2014,40 cases of major burn patients admitted in our hospital were divide randomly into the experimental group and the control group according to the admission date.Orem self-care model was employed for nursing in the experimental group.Whereas,the control group was received traditional model of burn care routine.One month after discharge,related knowledge,living skills and nursing satisfaction of the two groups were compared.Result:The related knowledge,living skills and nursing satisfaction score in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion:Orem self-care model used in patients with large area burn can effectively improve the daily living skills and quality of life,concurrently, improve overall patient satisfaction to care quality,and is worthy of promotion and application.
