Effect Observation of Cooling Gel Sheet in Reducing Pain of Patients after Tonsillectomy

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the effect of external application of Cooling Gel Sheet after tonsillectomy on alleviating patients’ pain. Method:Sixty patients treated with tonsillectomy from June 2013 to June 2014 in our hospital were selected,aged from 16 to 60.All patients were divided into the control group and the experimental group according to the random number table method,30 cases in each group.The control group was given traditional treatment like external application of ice packs on jaw and neck,while the experimental group was given Cooling Gel Sheet.The pain level of patients between the two groups was observed within 24 hours after surgery.Result:After nursing,the 24 h pain score of experimental group was (4.63±1.20)scores,which was significantly lower than (5.57±1.00)scores of control group,the difference was statistically significant(t=3.296, P=0.002).Conclusion:Analgesic effect of early external application of Cooling Gel Sheets is superior to ice pack.Moreover,Cooling Gel Sheet is convenient to use,easy to fix and unlikely to drop,without any adverse reaction,is worth in clinical application.
