Clinical Observation of Ligation of the Inter Sphincteric Fistula Tract in the Treatment of Anal Fistula for 23 Cases

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the primary effect of ligation of the intersphincteric fistula tract(LIFT) in the treatment of anal fistula.Method:A prospective observation of 23 patients who underwent this procedure from October 2009 to December 2011,outcomes included success rate,duration of the operation,length of stay in hospital,duration of the wound healing ,complication and recurrence rate.Result:Follow-up at least 2 years,success rate was 73.9%,recurrence rate was 10.0%,mean duration of the operation was 25 minutes,mean length of stay in hospital was 10 days,mean duration of wound healing was 5 weeks,no complication,success rate and recurrence rate had no significant differences with literature data(P>0.05).Conclusion:Ligation of the intersphincteric fistula tract is effective in the treatment of anal fistula and is a safe procedure.
