Analysis on Clinical Application of Proton Pump Inhibitors for Outpatients and Impatients

Abstract：Objective:This study is done to investigate the clinical application of proton pump inhibitors(PPIs) for outpatients and impatients in our hospital.Method:We adopted 16 837 items for prescr iptions and medical orders containing proton pump inhibitor from September 1 to September 30 of 2013.And the rationality of PPIs was analyzed in terms of dosage and indications for PPIs.Result:There were 1683 items for prescr iptions and medical orders where existed irrational use of PPIs,and the irrational rate was 10%.And it included 1347 items(8%) with irrational dosage and 336 items(2%) without indications for PPIs. Conclusion:The application of PPIs is basically reasonable.However,there also existed irrational application of PPIs,such as irrational dosage and mistaken indications for PPIs.
