Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of magnesium sulfate in preventing chemotherapy-induced phlebitis.Method:Sixty patients receiving chemotherapy were divided into control group and observation group, each group had 30 cases. The observation group was given 50%magnesium sulfate layer 10 cm×5 cm sterile gauze soaked wet compress above the venipuncture sites along the blood vessels to the start of chemotherapy, cover with plastic plastic wrap to the end of chemotherapy for 30 min.The control group had no wet compress intervention.Result:In the observation group and the control group, the incidence of phlebitis in patients were 13.3%(4/30) and 93.3%(28/30),respectively,the difference was statistically significance(χ2=38.5714,P<0.05).In the control group, there were 25 cases withⅠdegree phlebitis, accounting for 89.3%,3 cases (10.7%) with Ⅱdegree,in the observation group,4 patients of phlebitis were all gradeⅠphlebitis, the incidence of phlebitis degrees of two groups was statistically significant( Z=-2.180,P<0.05).Conclusion:Magnesium sulfate wet has a significant role in the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy after the occurrence of phlebitis, and is easy to use, easy to accept patients, worthy of clinical application.
