The Effect of Feeding Patterns on the Early Outcome of Neonatal Unconjugated Hyperbilirubinemia
CHEN Feng-zhan
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the early therapeutic effect of feeding patterns on neonatal unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia.Method:Neonates hospitalized by unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia were retrospectively analyzed. The difference of the reductions of total serum bilirubin(TSB) between the two groups(breastfed/formula-fed group) after combined treatment of mainly phototherapy(twice phototherapy for 12 hours) was researched.Result:There were no significant differences in gestational age, birth weight, gender, age at admission, giving hepatic enzyme inducer and Yinzhihuang ratio, and admission TSB between the two groups of children. The reduction of TSB in breastfed group was statistically more than in formula-fed group after combined treatment of mainly phototherapy(twice phototherapy for 12 hours). Conclusion:The early outcome of breastfeeding may be better than of formula feeding in neonatal unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia with combined therapy of mainly phototherapy.
