Effects of Edaravone on Cerebral Function in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Patients
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effects of edaravone on cerebral function in cardiopulmonary resuscitation patients.Method:Fifty-five patients undergoing restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) from August 2010 to December 2012 were randomly divided into two groups:E group used routine supportive treatment and edaravone,C group used routine supportive treatment. Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) was used at 0 h,24 h,4 d and 7 d after ROSC. Besides, length of stay in the hospital for survival, mortality and incidence of multiple organ dysfunction syndromes were observed.Result:GCS at 0 h,24 h fter ROSC showed no statistical difference (P>0.05),however,4 d and 7 d after ROSC showed a significant decrease in GCS as compared with 0 h after ROSC (P<0.05);length of stay in the hospital for survival, mortality and the incidence of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome were showed significant lower than those in C group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Edaravone is capable of improving cerebral function in cardiopulmonary resuscitation patients, and can shorten the length of stay in the hospital for survival, protect vital organ function and decrease the mortality in cardiopulmonary resuscitation patients.
