Influencing Factors on Goiter in Patients with Graves Disease

Abstract： Objective:To investigate the influencing factors on goiter in patients with Graves disease.Methods:Questionnaire,thyroid function,thyroid antoantibodies assay,urine iodine concentration and thyroid ultrasound scan were performed in 54 patients with newly diagnosed Graves disease.The patients were divided into two groups according to goiter.The relationship between thyroid volume(TV) and age,sex,body weight,course of disease,family history,thyroid hormone level,thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH).Results:TV was positive correlated with TRAb(r=0.516,P<0.01),but it was negative correlated with age of onset(r=-0.539,P<0.01).Conclusion:Female,younger age,higher TRAb level are risk factors on goiter in patients with Graves disease.
