Investigation on Mental Health Status of Recurrent Aphthous Ulcer Patients in Shenzhen

Abstract: Objective:To investigate the mental health status of recurrent aphthous ulcer patients in Shenzhen.Methods:A total of 485 patients with recurrent aphthous ulcer in Shenzhen and 120 normal subjects were selected and tested by self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),self-rating depression scale(SDS),485 patients were tested by self-designed carcinophobia and relevant factors questionnaire at the same time. Results:252 cases(51.96%) were suffering with anxiety symptoms;And 199 cases(41.03%) were suffering with depression symptoms.The scores of anxiety and depression in the patients group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).237 cases(48.87%) were suffering with carcinophobia,51 cases(21.52%) were attributed to iatrogenic factors,while the other 186 cases(78.48%) dued to non-iatrogenic factors. Conclusion:Doctors should pay more attention to psychological disorders of recurrent aphthous ulcer patients in Shenzhen.Both physical and psychological therapy are needed to treat recurrent RAU patients.
