Epidemiological Characteristics of HFMD,in Gaoming District of Foshan City for 2008-2011
Abstract:Objective:To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) in Gaoming district of Foshan city,so as to provide basis for establishing prevention measures in the future. Methods:To conduct descriptive analysis on confirmed HFMD cases reported to disease surveillance system from 2008-2011 in Gaoming district. Results:3425 confirmed HFMD cases were reported from 2008-2011 in Gaoming district,and the annually average incidence rate was 290.01/100,000 with an annually increasing trend. Most of the cases happened from April to July.The cases are mainly concentrated in children 1 to 4 years old.71.43% of severe cases were caused by EV71 inflection. Conclusion:HFMD epidemic intensity was gradually increasing in Gaoming district from 2008 to 2011,and EV71 inflection is the main cause of severe and death of HFMD. HFMD prevention and control program should be focused on the scattered children under age of 4. Prevention measures should be established in advance. At the same time,timely isolation and treatment,and health training among key crowds should be conducted. Early detection,prompt reporting,swift isolation and early treatment are the keys of HFMD prevention and control.
