Study on safety protection measures for construction of utility tunnels crossing existing metro tunnel sections
ZHANG Dongyang
Abstract:When constructing an underground utility tunnel crossing over an existing metro tunnel section, factors such as excavation-induced unloading and ground disturbance can easily lead to deformation of the tunnel structure below, and may even cause safety hazards such as segment cracking and track displacement, severely threatening the operational safety of the metro. This study takes the case of the Century Avenue West Section Comprehensive Utility Tunnel in Xixian New Area crossing over an existing metro tunnel section.Based on finite element numerical simulation, the application of safety protection measures such as three-axis deep mixing piles and sleeve grouting pipes is investigated.By combining automated monitoring of the metro tunnel section with numerical simulation comparisons, the feasibility of the safety protection measures for crossing over the metro is verified, providing references for similar engineering projects.
