Abstract:A project is built in a valley zone, which is easily affected by heavy rain mountain flood.Engineering measures should be taken in the planning and design stage to channel mountain flood and reduce the flood risk after the project construction. This paper uses ArcGIS software to conduct hydrological analysis, determine the project scope, catchment area and discharge affected by mountain flood, and design the location and size of flood interception ditch Based on InfoWorks ICM software, two flood risk assessment models were constructed in current condition and planning condition to analyze flood risk before and after project construction. The results show that the flood risk level within the project scope is relatively high, but the flood risk level within the project scope is obviously reduced by the design of flood cut-off ditch to divert the mountain flood to the downstream natural gully.
