Design Thinking-Oriented Lighting Environment Renewal for an Art University:A Case Study of a University in East China
ZHU Yali
Abstract:As an important component of the lighting environment, innovations in architectural lighting technology are driving the industry's shift from a focus on product performance toward systematic solutions.Taking a renovation project at a university in East China as a practical case, this paper addresses the demand of multifunctional landmark campus buildings for flexible lighting environments and visual aesthetics, and introduces the five-step design thinking process proposed by Stanford University's d.school(empathize-define-ideate-prototype-test)to construct a cross-disciplinary lighting design framework.Through a modular design strategy, the study explores specific pathways for applying design thinking methodology to enhance the innovativeness and feasibility of architectural lighting, providing a reference paradigm for lighting renovation of similar buildings.
