Abstract:How to design the in-vehicle lighting environment to improve passenger comfort has gradually become a key concern in the automotive industry.Based on a specific vehicle model, this study first identified existing issues in the current in-vehicle lighting environment through a subjective evaluation human factors experiment. In response to the most common issues identified, the research employed a combined subjective and objective research approach, investigating a total of 16 conditions formed by the combination of four ambient illumination levels and four display screen brightness levels at the second-row passenger area.Through subjective evaluation questionnaires and Landolt ring visual performance tests, the study obtained data on participants'perceived visual comfort and visual performance tests under different conditions. These findings provide a theoretical foundation and data support for the adaptive brightness design of headrest-mounted PAD displays. The conclusions contribute to improving the current nighttime in-vehicle lighting environment and offer a valuable reference for improving the lighting conditions in other seating positions within the vehicle.
