Abstract:Based on Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite(VIIRS)nightlight remote sensing data, combined with urban expansion index, standard deviation ellipse analysis,rank-size rule and gray correlation analysis, this study systematically analyzes urban expansion patterns, status and driving forces.Meanwhile, the study also evaluates the impact of light pollution on the ecological environment in conjunction with data from nature reserves. The results reveal the characteristics of urban expansion, the main influencing factors, and the ecological impact range of light pollution.(1)The analysis shows that urban expansion in Liaoning Province follows an expansion pattern from northeast to southwest, reflecting the spatial distribution characteristics of urban development in the region.Overall, the expansion scale of cities in Liaoning Province exhibits minimal difference, demonstrating a relatively balanced urban size distribution.(2)Key factors driving urban expansion include the proportion of the tertiary industry in GDP,urban population density, total GDP,the proportion of the secondary industry in GDP,and fiscal revenue.Among these, the growth of the tertiary industry and urban population density provides significant momentum for urban expansion.(3)The impact of light pollution in Liaoning Province is extensive. From an ecological perspective, light pollution affects 20.9%of the total area, with 20.6%of nature reserves,10%of natural forest areas,24.9%of important wetlands, approximately 30%of rare plant and animal habitats, and 28.6%of migratory bird sites affected by light pollution.
