Abstract:The optimal light intervention for improving alertness still lacks a clear consensus. This study uses a meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of light intervention on enhancing alertness, aiming to provide a reference for groups that need to maintain alertness in their work.As of August 2023,literature searches were conducted in databases such as Web of Science and CNKI,including studies on light intervention for healthy individuals aged 18 and above. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was used to evaluate the quality of the studies, and Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 15.0 software.A total of 21 randomized controlled trials(613 participants)were included in the meta-analysis.The subjective sleepiness score in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the control group[SMD=-0.70,95%CI=(-1.01,-0.39),P<0.001];the reaction time score in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the control group[SMD=-0.39,95%CI=(-0.71,-0.07),P<0.001].It is concluded that:(1)light intervention significantly improves both subjective and objective alertness performance;(2)higher color temperature light is more effective than lower color temperature light;(3)Both daytime and nighttime lighting can improve alertness.
