Abstract:The development of the neonatal visual system and the formation of biological rhythms highly rely on the stimulation from the external light environment.Meanwhile, the physiological adaptions caused by hormonal fluctuations lead to complex changes, presenting pregnant and postpartum women with health challenges and difficulties in multiple aspects such as visual perception, emotional regulation, and sleep rhythms. Therefore, this special group of women and infants urgently needs more refined and tailored health lighting support.Based on a quantitative analysis of cutting-edge literature and experiments related to health lighting for women and infants, this study comprehensively reviews the characteristics of pregnant and postpartum women and newborns in terms of vision, rhythms, and emotions,as well as the mechanisms by which lighting impacts their psychological and physiological well-being.The study elaborates on the positive effects of lighting on the physical and mental health of women and infants from three perspectives:improving maternal circadian rhythms, alleviating perinatal depression, and promoting the growth and development of newborns. This research aims to provide a reference for further exploration and evidence-based design of healthy lighting environment in mother-infant spaces.
