Abstract:The photochromic properties of white LEDs driven by pulse circuit and constant current mode were investigated based on visual luminance of human eyes .The experimental results show that the actual luminous flux of white LED in pulse drive with duty cycle less than 70% is lower than that driven by DC circuit, while “visual luminance” of LEDs are considered to be equal by the observers;the power of pulse driven white LED with duty cycle larger than 70%is below DC drive while luminous flux is larger than that of DC drive;the color coordinates of white LEDs with high pulse current drive would be close to 2.5%~4.6%of equal energy white lighting , the blue ratio of three primary color is increased by about 5%and the color temperature is increased obviously , thus enhancing the stimulus responses of human eyes to LED luminance .Moreover , the Talbot law is amended by using the visual impulse response function and the characteristic of visual inertia .And it can be explained by combined with the sensitometric characteristic of human eyes that pulse drive can enhance visual luminance of human eyes .
