Abstract：With the rapid development of our country's transportation industry , road tunnel illumination aroused wider concern .This paper analyzed the research progress both at home and abroad in road tunnel illumination design based on visibility level , discovered the deficiency in our country's research and difficulty in the research project and found the gap between our country and the foreign countries'research in this field .Finally the prospect , emphasis , thinking and methodology of the research were provided .
