Abstract:Objective To investigate the independent risk factors for peripheral intravenous infusion extravasation in hospitalized pediatric patients and propose corresponding intervention strategies. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 1557 pediatric patients who received peripheral intravenous infusion at our hospital from January 2024 to December 2024.Among them,55 children who experienced infusion extravasation were designated as the Extravasation Group.Using simple random sampling at a 1:4 ratio,220 children were selected from the 1502 children without extravasation during the same period to form the Control Group.General data of both groups were collected and compared.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify the independent risk factors for infusion extravasation. Results Univariate analysis showed statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of age, puncture site, drug os-motic concentration, and working years of the puncture nurse(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that age 0~3 years(OR=2.273,95%CI:1.154~4.478),puncture site on the dorsum of the foot(OR=2.143,95%CI:1.092~4.205),infusion of hypertonic solution(OR=3.511,95%CI:1.190~10.360),and puncture nurse's work experience<1 year(OR=2.418,95%CI:1.314~4.448)were independent risk factors for peripheral intravenous infusion extravasation in hospitalized pediatric patients(P<0.05).Conclusion Peripheral intravenous infusion extravasation in hospitalized pediatric patients is closely as-sociated with young age(0-3 years),dorsum of the foot puncture, infusion of hypertonic solutions, and low seniority of the puncture nurse(<1 year).Clinical practice should focus on these high-risk factors and develop targeted nursing intervention measures to reduce the incidence of infusion extravasation and ensure the safety of pediatric treatment.
