Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of cetirizine combined with budesonide inhalation therapy on pulmonary function in children during acute asthma exacerbations. Methods A total of 80 children with acute asthma exacerbations admitted to Sanming Second Hospital from December 2022 to June 2025 were selected as study subjects. They were randomly divided into an observation group(cetirizine combined with budesonide,40 cases)and a control group(budesonide alone,40 cases). The symptom recovery time, levels of inflammatory factors[interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reac-tive protein(CRP)],pulmonary function indicators[forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1),forced vital capacity(FVC),and peak expiratory flow rate(PEFR)],and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The recovery times for symptoms such as cough, wheezing, and dyspnea in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group(all P<0.001).After treatment, serum IL-6 and CRP levels in the obser-vation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(both P<0.001).FEV1,FVC,and PEFR in the obser-vation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(all P<0.001).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(12.50%vs.7.50%,P=0.456).Conclusion Cet-irizine combined with budesonide inhalation therapy for children during acute asthma exacerbations can significantly short-en the time to clinical symptom relief, effectively reduce inflammatory factor levels, improve pulmonary function, and does not increase the risk of adverse reactions.
