Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy of a mask-balloon oropharyngeal airway combined with a portable cardiopulmonary resuscitation device in prehospital care for patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and its impact on blood oxygen indicators. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 52 cardiac arrest patients admitted to our hospital between January 2024 and December 2024.According to the emergency proto-col,patients were divided into two groups. The Observation Group(n=26)received resuscitation using a portable cardiopulmonary resuscitation device(providing continuous chest compressions, pausing for 5 seconds every 2 minutes)combined with a mask-balloon oropharyngeal airway for ventilation during the compression pauses. The Control Group(n=26)received standard manual chest compressions(compression-to-ventilation ratio of 30∶2)com-bined with endotracheal intubation(compression interruptions ≤ 10 seconds during intubation). The two groups were compared regarding resuscitation success rate, time to return of spontaneousCIrculation(ROSC),spontaneous breathing, and consciousness recovery, blood gas anal-ysis indicators(pH,PaCO2,PaO2,SpO2)immediately and 3 hours after ROSC,as well as Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS)score and Acute Physiology and Chron-ic Health Evaluation Ⅱ(APACHE Ⅱ)score.Re-sults There were no significant differences in key baseline characteristics between the two groups, including gender, age, etiology, body mass index, initial cardiac rhythm, rate of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and emergency response time(P>0.05),indicating comparability. The resuscitation success rate was significantly higher in the Observation Group than in the Control Group(76.92%vs.50.00%,P=0.044).Furthermore,the times to ROSC,spontaneous breathing recovery, and consciousness recovery were all significantly shorter in the Obser-vation Group(P<0.001).At 3 hours post-ROSC,pH,PaO2,SpO2,and GCS scores were significantly higher in the Observation Group(P<0.05),while PaCO2 and APACHE Ⅱ scores were significantly lower compared to the Control Group(P<0.001).Conclusion Under the premise of comparable key prognostic factors, the protocol utilizing a mask-balloon oropharyngeal airway combined with a portable cardiopulmonary resuscitation device is more effec-tive than manual chest compressions combined with endotracheal intubation in improving the resuscitation success rate, accelerating the recovery of vital signs, and significantly enhancing blood oxygen metabolism and neurological status in cardiac arrest patients.
