Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of polyurethane foam dressing on wound healing in scalp do-nor sites of patients with extensive burns. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 68 patients with extensive burns admitted to our hospital between January 2023 and December 2024.According to the type of dressing used on the scalp donor site, the patients were divided into an observation group(polyure-thane foam dressing,n=34)and a control group(traditional dressing,n=34).The wound healing time, degree of wound pain, and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the wound healing time of the scalp donor site in the observation group was significantly shorter(P<0.001).The Numeric Rating Scale(NRS)scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group on postoperative day 1(P<0.001),day 3(P=0.003),day 5(P<0.001),and at the time of dressing removal(P<0.001).The total incidence of complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(14.71%vs.32.35%,P=0.041).Conclusion Polyurethane foam dressing demonstrates sig-nificant advantages in the management of scalp donor sites in patients with extensive burns. It can effectively short-en wound healing time, reduce postoperative pain, and lower the risk of complications.
