Abstract:Objective To evaluate the impact of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery(ERAS)-guided nu-tritional management on clinical outcomes in intensive care unit(ICU)patients with acute polytrauma.Meth-ods This retrospective analysis included 80 ICU patients with acute polytrauma treated at our hospital between May 2023 and October 2024.Patients were assigned to an observation group or a control group(n=40 each)accord-ing to the nursing management protocol received. The control group received routine care, while the observation group underwent ERAS-guided nutritional management.Changes from baseline to day 10 were compared between groups for severity of illness[Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation Ⅱ(APACHE Ⅱ)],trauma severi-ty[Injury Severity Score(ISS)],nutritional status[Nutritional Risk Screening(NRS)and serum albumin(ALB)],and activities of daily living[Barthel Index(BI)].ICU length of stay(LOS)was also recorded. Results There were no statistically significant differences between groups in any indicator at baseline(P>0.05).After 10 days of management, the observation group had significantly lower APACHE Ⅱ scores,ISS scores, and NRS scores, and significantly higher BI scores compared with the control group(all P<0.05).Improvements in ALB did not differ significantly between groups(P>0.05).The ICU LOS was significantly shorter in the observation group than in the control group(t=2.686,P=0.009).Conclusion ERAS-guided nutritional management can significantly reduce nutritional risk and disease severity, enhance self-care ability, and shorten ICU length of stay in ICU patients with acute polytrauma. It represents an effective strate-gy that is superior to conventional nutritional support.
