Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical value of targeted nursing intervention in patients with multiple rib fractures and lung lacerations undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS).Methods A retro-spective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 80 patients with multiple rib fractures and lung lacerations who underwent VATS at the General Hospital of Southern Theater Command and Guangdong 999 Brain Hospital from January 2023 to December 2024.Based on differences in nursing interventions, the patients were divided into an observation group(receiving targeted nursing intervention,n=40)and a control group(receiving routine nursing intervention,n=40).The surgical-related indicators, postoperative rehabilitation indicators, pulmonary function parameters[forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1),maximum voluntary ventilation(MVV)],and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The observation group showed significantly lower values than the con-trol group in terms of operative time(P=0.009),intra-operative blood loss(P=0.001),postoperative drainage volume(P=0.011),duration of drainage tube place-ment(P<0.001),hospital stay(P=0.001),and fracture healing time(P<0.001).Before the intervention, there were no significant differences between the two groups in FVC(P=0.243),FEV1(P=0.193),or MVV(P=0.133).After the intervention, all pulmonary function parame-ters significantly improved in both groups;moreover, the observation group exhibited significantly higher levels of FVC(P=0.011),FEV1(P<0.001),and MVV(P<0.001)compared to the control group. The nursing satisfaction rate in the observation group was 95.00%(38/40),significantly higher than the 77.50%(31/40)in the control group(P=0.023).Conclusion In patients undergoing emergency VATS for multiple rib fractures and lung lacerations, targeted nursing intervention can effectively reduce operative time and intraoperative blood loss, promote postoper-ative recovery, improve pulmonary function, and enhance nursing satisfaction.
