Abstract:Objective To analyze the factors related to the occurrence of gastrointestinal dysfunction after surgery in patients with thoracolumbar fractures and to explore corresponding nursing strategies. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 93 thoracolumbar fracture patients admitted to Nan-chong Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from October 2021 to October 2024.Based on postoperative condi-tions,the patients were divided into the control group(patients with good postoperative gastrointestinal function,n=56)and the dysfunction group(patients with postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction,n=37).General data and clinical characteristics between the two groups were compared.Logistic regression was used to analyze the factors influencing the occurrence of gastrointestinal dysfunction after surgery in thoracolumbar fracture patients and to develop targeted nursing strategies. Results There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of gender, fracture cause,or incidence of other complications(P>0.05).The dysfunction group had significantly higher values for age, body mass index, vertebral fracture number, fracture instability rate, organ damage rate, proportion of patients receiving open reduction and internal fixation surgery, postoperative pain level, time to postoperative feeding, and time to mobilization compared to the control group(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis revealed that postoperative pain level and feeding time were not risk factors for gastrointestinal dysfunc-tion after surgery(P>0.05).However,age,BMI,num-ber of vertebral fractures, fracture type, organ dam-age,surgical approach, and time to mobilization were identified as independent risk factors for postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction(P<0.05).Conclusion The occurrence of gastrointestinal dysfunction after surgery in thoracolumbar fracture patients is related to factors such as the patient's physical condition, the severity of the fracture injury, and the time to mobilization.Postoperative nursing strategies, such as performing bed exercises and assisting with early mobilization, should be implemented to reduce the incidence of gastrointestinal dysfunction.
