Abstract:Objective To explore the application and effectiveness of non-invasive ventilation(NIV)in the emergency treatment of acute respiratory failure. Methods A total of 62 patients with acute respiratory failure admitted to the emergency department of Nantong Ruici Hospital from May 2023 to December 2024 were selected for this retrospective study.According to whether non-invasive ventilation was applied, patients were di-vided into the study group(routine emergency treatment+non-invasive ventilation,n=31)and the control group(routine emergency treatment,n=31).Blood gas parameters, pulmonary function, and clinical treatment outcomes were compared between the two groups. Results Before treatment, there were no significant differences in blood gas parameters(PaO2,SaO2,PaCO2)and pulmonary function indicators(FEV1,PEF,FEV1/FVC)between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,PaO2,SaO2,pH,FEV1,PEF,and FEV1/FVC levels increased, and PaCO2 levels decreased in both groups(P<0.05).Compared to the control group, the study group showed significantly higher PaO2,SaO2,pH,FEV1,PEF,and FEV1/FVC levels, and significantly lower PaCO2 levels(P<0.05).The total effec-tive treatment rate was significantly higher in the study group compared to the control group(96.77%vs.77.42%,P<0.05).Conclusion Non-invasive ventilation can effectively improve blood gas parameters and pulmonary function in patients with acute respiratory failure, leading to significant clinical benefits.
