Abstract:Objective To observe the effects of Lithiasis-Expelling Decoction combined with acupuncture on the improvement of clinical symptoms and pain in patients with ureteral stones. Methods A total of 120 pa-tients with damp-heat syndrome type ureteral stones, treated at the Emergency Department of Qiannan Prefecture Chinese Medicine Hospital from April 1,2023,to April 1,2024,were selected for the study. The patients were ran-domly divided into two groups using a random number table method. The study group(n=60)received treatment with Lithiasis-Expelling Decoction combined with acupuncture, while the control group(n=60)received conven-tional oral Western medication. The two groups were compared for changes in VAS scores,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, stone clearance rate, and treatment safety after 1 month and 6 months.Re-sults There was no significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).How-ever,the VAS scores at 1 week,1 month, and 3 months after treatment showed significant differences in time,be-tween-group comparisons, and interaction effects(P<0.001).There was no significant difference in TCM syndrome scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).One month after treatment, the TCM syndrome score in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.001).After treatment, the stone clear-ance rate in the study group was significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the control group was 3.33%(2/60),and in the study group,it was 5.00%(3/60).There was no signif-icant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Treatment with Lithiasis-Expelling Decoction combined with acupuncture can improve clinical symptoms, reduce pain, and increase stone clearance rate in patients with ureteral stones, with an acceptable safety profile.
