Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of external application of Bingchan Analgesic Plas-ter in relieving pain associated with primary liver cancer(PLC).Methods A prospective study was conducted involving 66 hospitalized and outpatient patients with liver cancer-related pain, treated at Jinsha County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between July 2023 and November 2024.Patients were randomly assigned to two groups using a random number table method:the control group(n=33)received standard opioid therapy, while the observation group(n=33)received additional external application of Bingchan Analgesic Plaster on top of the opioid regimen.Numerical Rating Scale(NRS)pain scores were recorded on days 1,3,7,10,and 14 of treatment.Additionally, the Brief Pain Inventory(BPI)and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30(EORTC QLQ-C30)were used to assess pain impact and quality of life be-fore and after treatment in both groups. Results There was no statistically significant difference in baseline NRS scores between the two groups(P>0.05).However,at each follow-up time point(days 1,3,7,10,and 14),the ob-servation group showed significantly lower NRS scores compared to the control group(P<0.05).Prior to treatment,no significant differences in QLQ-C30 scores were observed between the two groups(P>0.05);post-treatment,the observation group demonstrated statistically significant improvements in multiple QLQ-C30 domains(P<0.05).Intra-group comparisons revealed marked improvement in BPI scores within the observation group post-treat-ment,with significantly better outcomes than those of the control group(P<0.05).The overall effective rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(93.93%vs.66.67%,P<0.05).Conclusion The addition of Bingchan Analgesic Plas-ter to standard opioid therapy provides superior analgesic efficacy in managing Qi-stagnation and blood-stasis type pain in primary liver cancer, with no serious adverse effects, outperforming opioid therapy alone.
