Abstract:Objective To compare and analyze the short~term clinical efficacy of interlaminar endoscopic discecto-my and lumbar window decompression surgery in the treatment of L5-S1 disc herniation, with a focus on exploring the ap-plication value of interlaminar endoscopic discectomy. Methods A total of 95 patients with L5-S1 disc herniation who were treated at our hospital from January 2020 to December 2023 were randomly assigned into two groups using a random number table:the interlaminar endoscopic discectomy group(48 cases)and the lumbar window decompression group(47 cases). The patients in the interlaminar endoscopic discectomy group underwent interlaminar endoscopic discectomy, while the lumbar window decompression group underwent lumbar window decompression surgery.Perioperative and postopera-tive indicators were compared and analyzed between the two groups. Results The interlaminar endoscopic discectomy group showed superior surgical efficiency and safety. The surgical time and intraoperative blood loss in the observation group were both lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).At 1 week,1 month, and 3 months postoperatively, the pain scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.001).The Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)scores at 1 week,1 month, and 3 months postoperatively were also lower in the observation group compared to the control group(P<0.001).The MacNab excellent and good rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(74.47%vs.93.75%,P<0.05).The complication rate in the observation group showed no statisti-cally significant difference compared to the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion Interlaminar endoscopic discectomy for the treatment of L5-S1 disc herniation offers advantages such as minimal trauma, fast recovery, and effective outcomes. Its short~term clinical efficacy is superior to that of lumbar window decompression surgery and is worthy of clinical promotion.
