Abstract:Objective To compare and analyze the clinical efficacy of rotational excision surgery versus are-olar approach excision in the treatment of benign breast masses. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 180 patients with benign breast masses who were treated at Xuzhou Medical University Affiliated Hospital and the Third Affiliated Hospital from June 2021 to June 2024.Patients were divided into two groups based on the sur-gical technique employed:the rotational excision group(90 patients)and the areolar approach excision group(90 patients). The perioperative indicators, aesthetic outcomes of the breast at 4 weeks post-surgery,postoperative pain levels, nerve function recovery times, and incidence of postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results Compared to the areolar approach group, patients in the rotational excision group exhibited the following:significantly shorter surgical incision length, reduced operation time, and decreased intraoperative blood loss, although the surgical costs were higher(P<0.05);significantly higher scores for incision scars,pigmentation,nipple-areola complex appearance, and overall breast aesthetics(P<0.001);significantly lower Visual Analog Scale(VAS)scores for pain at 24 hours postoperatively(P<0.001);notably shorter recovery times for touch sensation(P<0.05)and pain sensation(P<0.05);significantly lower overall incidence of postoperative complications(2.22%vss.10.00%,P<0.05).Conclusion For patients with benign breast masses, rotational excision surgery, compared to are-olar approach excision, offers advantages such as shorter incision lengths, reduced intraoperative blood loss, improved aesthetic outcomes of the breast, decreased postoperative pain levels, enhanced recovery of nerve function, and a lower risk of postoperative complications.
