Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical efficacy of using moist burn ointment in the treatment of chron-ic non-healing wounds, guided by the concept of"simmering pus to promote granulation."Methods Ninety patients with chronic non-healing wounds treated at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine from September 2022 to May 2024 were selected for the study.Using a random number table method, the patients were randomly divided into a control group(conventional Western dressing changes,n=45)and an observa-tion group(moist burn ointment dressing changes,n=45).Wound assessment was conducted using the Bates-Jensen Wound Assessment Tool(BWAT),which evaluates wound characteristics including re-epithelialization(BWAT-1),exudate(BWAT-2),pain intensity measured by the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS),bacterial culture positivity rate,clin-ical efficacy, and safety. Results Prior to treatment, there were no significant differences in BWAT scores,BWAT-1,BWAT-2 scores,or VAS pain scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After four weeks of treatment, all scores significantly decreased in both groups compared to baseline(P<0.001),with the observation group exhibiting signifi-cantly lower scores than the control group(P<0.001).The bacterial culture positivity rate also significantly decreased in both groups after four weeks(P<0.001).Furthermore,the clinical cure rate and clinical efficacy rate were significantly higher in the observation group(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of moist burn ointment guided by the concept of"simmering pus to promote granula-tion"effectively facilitates re-epithelialization,controls exudate, suppresses infection, alleviates pain, and promotes healing in chronic non-healing wounds, ultimately improving the wound cure rate.
