Abstract:Objective To explore the therapeutic effects, safety, and impact on cognitive function of vortioxe-tine and duloxetine in the treatment of patients with depression. Methods This study included 120 patients with de-pression who were treated at Xiamen Xian Yue Hospital from January 2020 to December 2023.Patients were random-ly assigned to two groups using a random number table method, with 60 patients in each group. The observation group received vortioxetine treatment, while the control group received duloxetine treatment. The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD)was used to assess the severity of depressive symptoms, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)was used to evaluate cognitive function, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)was used to assess sleep quality.Clinical efficacy and safety between the two groups were compared. Results Before treatment, there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of HAMD scores,MoCA scores, and PSQI scores(P>0.05).After treatment, both groups showed a gradual decrease in HAMD and PSQI scores(P<0.05)and a gradual increase in MoCA scores(P<0.05).Furthermore,compared to the control group, the observation group had significant-ly lower HAMD and PSQI scores and significantly higher MoCA scores after 2,4,and 6 weeks of treatment(P<0.001).The clinical total effective rate in the observation group was significantly higher than in the control group(P=0.001).No significant differences were found in the incidence of adverse events between the two groups during treatment(P=0.543).Conclusion Compared with duloxetine, vortioxetine significantly improves depression severity, cognitive function, and sleep quality in patients with de-pression,with notable clinical efficacy and a high safety profile.
