Abstract:Objective To compare and analyze the effects of the three most commonly used crossmatching methods in clinical practice:saline method, colloidamine method, and microcolumn gel method. Methods A total of 148 patients who applied for blood transfusion at our hospital from June 2023 to June 2024 were selected as the study subjects. All patients underwent crossmatching using the saline method, colloidamine method, and microcolumn gel method. The blood crossmatching time, crossmatching results, causes of incompatibility, sensitivity, accuracy, and stability of the three methods were compared. Results Among the three crossmatching methods, the saline method required the shortest crossmatching time, followed by the colloidamine method, while the microcolumn gel method required the longest time, with statistically significant differences(P<0.001).The incompatibility rate was highest in the microcolumn gel method, which was significantly higher than the colloidamine and saline methods(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in incompatibility rates between the colloidamine and saline methods(P=0.314).The most common cause of incompatibility in all three methods was hematologic diseases, accounting for 66.67%of incompatibilities in the colloidamine method,100%in the saline method, and 54.55%in the microcolumn gel method. The sensitivity, accuracy, and stability of the colloidamine and microcolumn gel methods were significantly higher than those of the saline method(P<0.001).No significant difference was found in the sensitivity, accuracy, and sta-bility between the colloidamine and microcolumn gel methods(P>0.05).Conclusion The saline method, colloidamine method, and microcolumn gel method each have their respective advantages and disadvantages. The saline and colloidamine methods are time-efficient but less safe, while the microcolumn gel method offers higher sensitivity but requires more time.
