Application of Huatan Zhuyu Tongmai Decoction in Elderly Patients with Acute Heart Failure and Its Effect on Myocardial Health Status

Abstract：Objective To investigate the application of Huatan Zhuyu Tongmai Decoction in elderly pa-tients with acute heart failure(AHF)and its effects on myocardial health.Methods A total of 80 elderly pa-tients diagnosed with AHF by the Intensive Care Unit of Xiamen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital between January 2022 and December 2023 were selected for the study.The patients were randomly assigned to two groups(40 patients per group)using a random number table.The control group received conventional Western medicine treatment for acute heart failure(including diuretics,vasodilators,and positive inotropic drugs),while the obser-vation group was additionally treated with Huatan Zhuyu Tongmai Decoction,administered warm.The efficacy of the treatment plans,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,myocardial health status,and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of the treatment plan in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the TCM syn-drome scores(including irritability,shortness of breath,fatigue,and chest tightness)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Moreover,levels of amino-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP),B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP),and serum cardiac troponin T(cTnT)were significantly lower in the observation group compared to the control group(P＜0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was similar between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Huatan Zhuyu Tongmai Decoction is an effective treatment for elderly patients with AHF,significantly alleviating TCM symptoms and improving myocardial health.Moreover,it demonstrates a favorable safety profile.
