Observation of the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine detoxification and Liangxue prescription combined with Western medicine in the treatment of hepatitis B and chronic acute liver failure

Abstract：Objective To analyze the clinical value of a detoxifying and cooling blood formula combined with Western medicine in the treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B-induced acute-on-chronic liver fail-ure(ACLF).Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 80 patients with chronic hepatitis B-induced ACLF who were treated at Zhenghe County Hospital in Fujian from February 2021 to Febru-ary 2024.Patients were divided into two groups based on whether they received the detoxifying and cooling blood formula:the observation group(detoxifying and cooling blood formula combined with Western medicine,n=40)and the control group(Western medicine only,n=40).The clinical efficacy,mortality,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,and liver function parameters were compared between the two groups.Results After 8 weeks of treatment,the clinical efficacy of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group,with a statistically significant difference(P=0.021).The mortality rate in the observation group was signifi-cantly lower than in the control group(P=0.039).After 48 weeks of treatment,the clinical efficacy of the observa-tion group remained significantly higher than that of the control group(P=0.023),and the mortality rate was also significantly lower(P=0.030).Before treatment,there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of TCM syndrome scores for jaundice,anorex-ia,nausea,acid regurgitation,abdominal distension,and fatigue(P＞0.05).After treatment,the observation group had significantly lower scores for jaundice,ano-rexia,nausea,acid regurgitation,abdominal distension,and fatigue compared to the control group(P＜0.001).Furthermore,liver function parameters were significantly im-proved in the observation group compared to the control group(P＜0.001).Conclusion The combined treatment of detoxifying and cooling blood formula with Western medicine significantly improves clinical efficacy,reduces mortality,and enhances both TCM syndrome scores and liver function parameters in patients with chronic hepatitis B-induced ACLF,demonstrating its potential for broader clinical application.
