Application and Effect Analysis of FOCUS-PDCA Model in Preoperative Preparation of Patients Undergoing Hepatobiliary Surgery

Abstract：Objective To explore the application and effectiveness of the FOCUS-PDCA model in the pre-operative preparation of patients undergoing hepatobiliary surgery.Methods This study involved patients who underwent hepatobiliary surgeries at Fujian Medical University Mengchao Hepatobiliary Hospital from January to December 2023.Patients were divided into two groups based on the implementation of the FOCUS-PDCA model:529 patients from January to June 2023 served as the control group,while 600 patients from July to December 2023 comprised the FOCUS-PDCA group.We analyzed transportation times,the rate of preparation deficiencies,surgical success rates,incidence of surgical delays,and patient satisfaction between the two groups.Results The FO-CUS-PDCA group demonstrated significantly lower ward preparation times,surgical transportation times,surgical handover times,as well as rates of monitoring equipment deficiencies,bed preparation deficiencies,and medication preparation deficiencies compared to the control group(P＜0.05).The preoperative preparation compliance rate was higher in the FOCUS-PDCA group,and the surgical delay rate was lower than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Overall patient satisfaction rates were significantly higher in the FOCUS-PDCA group compared to the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The implementation of the FOCUS-PDCA model enhances the compliance and timeliness of preoperative preparations for hepatobiliary surgeries,thereby ensuring the quality of preoperative readiness.
