Abstract:Objective To This study aims to analyze the clinical effects of standardized pain management interventions in the postoperative care of pediatric patients with appendicitis. Methods A total of 68 pediatric patients diagnosed with appendicitis and treated at Xiamen Children's Hospital from July 2023 to July 2024 were included in the study. Using a random number table method, the patients were divided into an observation group and a control group, each consisting of 34 patients. The observation group received standardized pain management interventions, while the control group received conventional nursing care. We compared perioperative indicators, pain levels, the incidence of postoperative complications, and patient satisfaction with nursing care between the two groups. Results Compared to the control group, patients in the observation group demonstrated shorter times for the recovery of bowel function, resumption of oral intake, ambulation, and overall hospital stay,as well as a lower frequency of analgesic use (P<0.001). At 6 hours postoperative, there were no significant differences in the FLACC pain scale scores between the two groups;however,at 12,24,48,and 72 hours postoperative, the observation group had significantly lower FLACC scores compared to the control group (P<0.001). Furthermore, the overall incidence of complications in the observation group was lower (P<0.05),and patient satisfaction with nursing care was high-er,as indicated by satisfaction scores (P<0.05) and overall satisfaction ratings (P<0.001). Conclusion For pedi-atric patients undergoing appendectomy, implementing standardized pain management interventions postoperatively is beneficial for recovery, effectively alleviates pain, reduces the risk of complications, enhances patient satisfaction with care, and promotes overall recovery.
