Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of amitriptyline treatment on neurological dysfunction in patients with post-stroke depression. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 80 elderly patients with depression after acute cerebral infarction who visited Quanzhou First Hospital from May 2021 to May 2024. According to whether the patients were treated with amitriptyline, they were divided into an observation group (treated with amitriptyline) and a control group (not treated with amitriptyline),with 40 cases in each group. Compare the levels of anxiety and depression, degree of neurological damage, quality of life, and occurrence of ad-verse reactions between two groups of patients. Results The anxiety level of the two groups of patients was eval-uated using the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA),the depression level was evaluated using the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD),and the degree of neurological impairment and quality of life were compared between the two groups using the Minimum Mental State Examination (MMSE),Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS),and Short Form 36 Question-naire (SF-36) from four aspects:social function, emotional function, physiological function, and psychological func-tion. After treatment, the HAMA and HAMD scores of both groups of patients significantly decreased;MMSE score,GCS score, social function score, emotional function score, physiological function score, and psychological function score all showed significant increases;Compared with the control group, the observation group had lower HAMA and HAMD scores (P<0.001),higher MMSE scores,GCS scores, social function scores, emotional function scores, physiological function scores, and psychological func-tion scores (P<0.001). However, there was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the observation group and the control group (P=0.094). Conclusion For patients with depression after cerebral infarction, treatment with amitriptyline can effectively improve their negative emotions of depression and anxiety,pro-mote neurological function recovery, improve their quality of life, and has high safety.
