Abstract:Objective To compare the efficacy of single-port umbilical laparoscopic cholecystectomy (SPLC) and three-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy (TPLC) in a primary care hospital setting. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 76 patients with benign gallbladder diseases, treated at Gutian Coun-ty Hospital in Ningde City,Fujian Province, from August 2023 to June 2024. The patients were divided into two groups:the single-port group (n=37) and the three-port group (n=39). The surgical duration, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative complications, pain scores on postoperative days 1 and 3,postoperative wound complications, hospital stay, and hospitalization costs were compared between the two groups. Results The single-port group had a significantly longer surgical duration than the three-port group (P<0.05). Additionally, the incidence of wound complications in the single-port group was higher than that in the three-port group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The total hospitalization costs were also higher in the single-port group compared to the three-port group (P<0.05). No significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative complications, postoperative pain,or postoperative hospital stay (P>0.05). Conclu-sion Single-port umbilical laparoscopic cholecystectomy is less favorable than three-port laparoscopic cholecys-tectomy in terms of surgical duration, wound complications, and hospitalization costs. It is currently not suitable for widespread use in primary care hospitals.
