Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of a treatment regimen combining somatostatin and esomeprazole in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 120 patients with severe acute pancreatitis who were admitted to the emergency department of Zhangzhou Hos-pital,Fujian Province, between January 2022 and December 2023. Patients were divided into two groups based on the treatment protocol. The control group received injectable somatostatin, while the observation group was treated with a combination of somatostatin and esomeprazole,60 cases per group. The clinical outcomes, including the time for symptom relief, disease improvement, and levels of inflammatory markers, were compared between the two groups. Results The observation group showed significantly shorter times for abdominal pain relief,ab-dominal distension relief, and return of bowel sounds compared to the control group. Additionally, the observation group had lower serum amylase, white blood cell count, and Ranson scores. After treatment, the levels of CRP,IL-6,and TNF-α in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclu-sion The combination of somatostatin and esomeprazole effectively shortens the time for clinical symptom relief in patients with severe acute pancreatitis, significantly improves clinical outcomes, and reduces inflammatory mark-er levels. This treatment regimen plays an important role in controlling inflammation and has significant clinical application value.
